Samsung to resume global sales of Galaxy Note7 in the coming weeks

By Cookie Monster on 4 Oct 2016

One month after Samsung halted sales of the Galaxy Note7 due to battery defects, the Korean company has announced that it is ready to resume sales in global markets.
Sales of the Galaxy Note7 have resumed in its home country since 1st October, and global markets will follow suit in the coming weeks. While there are ongoing replacement programs in other markets, the local exchange program had ended two days ago.
In a Facebook post yesterday, Samsung Mobile Singapore thanked its customers for their kind patience. Calling it "one of the toughest challenges" ever faced by the company, Samsung acknowledges that there is still much work to be done to regain the trust of consumers. It also urges Galaxy Note7 users who have yet to exchange their devices to do so as soon as possible.

The return: Samsung Galaxy Note 7 sales resuming worldwide
Expect shiny, safe new Galaxy Note 7s coming your way soon

It looks like the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 storm has abated and you'll soon be able to get a brand new, safety-approved unit soon.

South Korea first, of course

Things seem to be going well over in South Korea, where sales of the Galaxy Note 7 resumed earlier this week on 1 Oct. As to the exact dates when the phone returns to other markets, Samsung did confirm that the sales will be happening "in the coming weeks".

Samsung also detailed in full new features that will come with this updated Galaxy Note 7: the green battery icon (visible on the Status Bar), a special Power Off prompt screen accessible by long-pressing the power key as well as an Always On display screen. Another new identifier to help customers be sure they have the safe version of the phone is a square symbol on the Galaxy Note 7's phone packaging label.

The company also urged those still possessing a Galaxy Note 7 that falls under the recall program to return their current model for a new one as soon as possible. If you're unsure whether your phone is affected, find out here.

Should you be concerned about the Galaxy Note 7's safety? Considering the phone has been on sale in China without need for a recall from the beginning, it seems as though the affected models were only those with batteries made by a specific manufacturer. The quick recall and the insitution of an exchange policy means that you should be able to purchase what we called the best phone right now without worry.

If you'd been undecided between the Galaxy Note 7 and the Apple iPhone 7 Plus, we have a comparison to help you decide.

recommendation is to wait out until someone's ranjiao gets burned.

Matter of fact is all Lithium Ion batteries products have a certain tiny percentage burnt, be it e-scotters, e-bikes, phones, cameras, MP3 players, drone toys, power banks, bluetooth, electric wheelchairs, LAPTOPS.....

But this is an Acceptable Risk.

The higher power capacity and the faster they charge / discharge power the higher the risk.

There is this thing in Note 7 called Fast Charge V3.0 I am quite sure it was the source of the issue. To support Fast Charge V3.0 battery and charging circuit and software as well as temperature sensors have to be very carefully designed and implemented. A bit goes wrong in these areas, smoke comes out.

Samsung is a screwed up company where they put profits before consumer & worker safety. I don't see how that will change without a major management change:confused:

You can see this "attitude" with their exploding Notes, exploding washing machines. The cover ups with Samsung workers dying from exposure to toxic materials.
It's only been a few months so I doubt there have been a major change in the managements attitudes.

Why should I live in a cave? I use many electronic products from Intel, Apple, Nokia, Asus, Hitachi, Daikin, iRobot, Panasonic, ..

The only Samsung product I own is an LED monitor but I'm not using it now because I prefer using my Dell monitor. I do have a Samsung 850 Pro SSD & so far it hasn't exploded, yet My Apple product has Samsung components. However I know that the final Apple products has undergone QC by Apple so I don't expect any problems

Samsung products are cheaper because they cut many corners.

Lol I still wear a mechanical watch. So by that definition, I do live in a cave.

Anyone looking for a good & cheap watch can look at a Seiko. It is not manual but uses a battery.

Had a Seiko Sportsman watch which was still working after 20 years. It survived in the freezing temperatures of Alberta's winter & Spore's hot humid temperatures. Only needed a new battery every 5 years & a rubber gasket replacement to maintain the waterproofness.

I stopped using it when I got a handphone which makes wearing a watch redundant. If I were to get a watch today it would be the manual Omega Speedmaster. The model that was taken to the moon.

Western Kiasi ideas is to make everything safe for everyone, so no one gets hurt or Die. This is completely wrong and unnatural. Useful things carries a degree of dangerous properties with their usefulness, and required skill and knowledge to use them without getting killed or hurt. This Correct way disqualified idiots who deserves to be killed or left behind living in caves. And there shouldn't be any arbitrary protections offered nor there is equality entitlement to EQUATE people of different abilities.

Darwinism applied.

Everything exist to cause differentiation, not equality. Explodable phones for example must cause differentiation among users, some happy skillful smart users enjoying them, some hurt or killed ex-user and some frightened non-users.

Not all to be equally happy safe users.

Fuck Ang Moh and their crap civilized moronic ideas DEAD.

I got following example 6 different outcomes from 6 guys each given $100 to fuck Geylang chicken:
