I followed your story and can see you are also PAP SAF worker holding some kind of mid to high level position.

You are the right person to reveal something in SAF and PAP. what was your last rank in SAF?

Anyone know LTC Boon? I know her sister.

I am sorry, but I will not reveal my last rank. Already, people can see which formation I am with, as you can guess at my position. the last thing I need is to narrow it down for them. The formation is too small.

ok, my guess is at least Capt or Major.

I was in the armoured brigade too and MAX 13 also go on main road on steel tracks. Cant event climb a low slope in Mandai Rd.

No wonder the father army son Hong Yi kpkb SAF still using WW2 equipment.

U must have been really lau chio armour. the practice of AMX-13 running on the main road stopped when I was there. All AMX-13 was low loaded to area D when i was there. i was one of those responsible, for reducing the cost of the transportation. that's why I know Peck Tiong Chun company, and other companies that bid on the SAF low loader contract. The AMX-13 steel tracks were too slippery on the asphalt road, especially in rainy weather, and hence the stopping distance too long. a few accidents happened when AMX-13 collided with civilian vehicles. No points for guessing which party won. After one incident when the AMX-13 driver could not stop in time and rammed his 75mm gun into the back of the SBS bus, all AMX-13s were banned from public roads. But now, Keat Hong camp is demolished, so no more issues like this. LOL. But its no fun to be brigade DO and kenna called out to view yet another tank versus car battle on either CCK or LCK. :-)

He graduated from cambridge in 1979, not 1980. 46 SAR was an AI not a tank battalion. Hsien Yang was a tankee, not those M113 officers. And he did not attend any overseas armour courses, as far as I know. he barely attended TOCC in SOA. Hahahaha. There are some legendary stories about his time there. In those days, overseas armour courses were siong like hell. And usually send to West germany, India, or Israel. They will not risk him over there.

I believe he did attend SCSC because he took over 2 SIB later on after he left the armour formation. So, I think that is one of the requirements that he has to attend the SCSC. Hope that answers your questions.

Thank you.

He must be Commander 2 SIB way after I left HQ 2SIB, where there was no officers' mess. Have to go to the officers' mess for pilots, etc. in Changi, where there was good delicious food and free beer on Fridays.

Seriously? Your standard so low? This kind of cheebye face, hunchbacked over, flat chested also u say bonkable?

She used to be better looking, although may be flat.
Did not realized that she is hunch back, "drying out" and stressed facial features.

Yeah, something about airbases. the food there was always better than your standard army camps. Also, the canteens were damn good. I know the CO of Changi Airbase quite well, but I think that was before you got there. I never ate at changi, but did try Paya lebar. and the best part of going to the airbases was the much larger population of females, most of them quite chio. LOL.

Ok, that explains it. u were many years after LHY. back than 46 SAR was the standard for armour camp and like i said, the officer mess was the standard for SAF. I have been to every single SAF camp in those days, and a decent second would be the commandoes officer mess. By the time u got to 46, the heyday was long gone. I think by the time you got there, it was already Bionix in armour? Since we are talking about food, Were you around when the snacks sellers were riding around area D in a motorbike and a sidecar? Selling iced packet soft drinks and fried mee hoon out of the side car? Some of their snacks were damn good.

If you have been to all the officers' mess in the SAF, you must be some "senior officer" or special appt.

Yep, convoying brings back memories. A lot of accidents happened when impatient drivers cut into the convoy and come between the safety rover and an AMX-13. How stupid can u be to tail gate a tank or cut in front of one. Bloody idiots drivers.

I have to say that I have literally been to pretty much all the SIR, Guards and Commando officer mess, as well as all armour mess. My position at that time did not require me to go to arty or Combat engineer officer mess. And no MINDEF mess either at that time, thank god.

Its because all the brass is there. But for the better food at the armour camps, u have to try the Indian cookhouse. they cook in small batches and very good. i say comparable to little india.

Do you wish to send me a private message, because I do not know how to do it. I have been in the True North, Strong and free for 30 years.

During your time, HQ 4SAB under Lai Chee Kwong moved to Gedong already. HQ 8SAB (newly formed in '89) under Tan Hang Kee in Keat Hong Camp II. 40 & 46 under 8SAB; 41 & 42 under 4SAB. Han Eng Juan was Chief Armour then.

Amour chief during my time was Patrick Choy....the O levels general with signature hairy mole.
There was no 42 then....as already stand down many years.
Lhy's CO in 40SAR was Ralph Pattison.
Incidently there was an infamous saf regular by the name of Lee Kuan Yew serving there during that time.....that chap became the butt of many jokes.

Really? A lot of ex SAF armour officers in Canada now. I know of one 46 SAR AI officer and S3, and also one OCS armour sword winner, both in canada.
