Every phones are crap.

Samsung and HTC are cheap plastics. Samsung designs are boring. Customized software make no sense at all. HTC internals are messy looks like it is being assembled in cheap Chinese factory.

Nokia is super quality phone with awesome screen you can read under sun light but running on less popular Windoze OS. Everything works as expected and you could find more apps you need now. Only drawback is you cant customize it is not an engineers phone. All the information are integrated and you dun have to search for them.

Sony i have really no idea because my laptop was a Sony and the stupid keys on the keyboard pops easily or not working anymore. So i am unsure about the quality if they are good. But sony screen is usually awesome.

iphone is the most boring phone in the world. It is the same UI since 2007. And android craps crash alot.

like humans, there is no perfect phone in this world.

I only use my HTC cell phone for calls and text messages. I don't use any of the apps except for Whatsapp, which is texting anyway. My daughter was given an iPhone and she is playing with it all the time, sending photos, and downloading all kinds of crap. My wife has a Blackberry but doesn't use it for anything other than making calls. Suggest you go to Starhub or SingTel, sit down with the salesbloke and ask which is the lowest priced model that will perform the stuff you list out. To me, they're all the same.

Cheers!

Took a look & there are plenty of phones that are free if you are willing to sign a contract. Unfortunately it is the data plan that will cost $$.
Like you I only use the phone to make & receive calls & to SMS. I am actually spending the same amount going the smartphone route as I did years ago when there were no smart phones.

I guess we are getting too old to appreciate all the "benefits" of the new information age:smile:

Just to add............if you only need a phone for watsapp, SMS, taking photos and calling.....HTC phone is not bad at all. Just last week one of my friend renewed his contract and got a HTC phone free. The phone looks good and nice too. Look out for any promotion from M1 and Singtel.

One thing to note....if you only need a phone for talking, SMS and watsapp, don't get a smartphone becos battery drains off very fast. Look for ordinary phone

I forgot to take my Sony Ericson phone out from my pants before putting it in the washing machine. :(

Some people have told me that after the handphone is dried out it may work again. So I got some silica gel & put it in a zip lock bag & put it in with my handphone. In a few ays I'll know if it works:confused:

I got a nokia aisha phone for many year now. great but small key board. browser quite dodgy to use if on Wifi. dropped many times but still look new. maybe they have improved their symbian OS by now if you do not want windows.i did not update mine as not using data.
and because of that, battery lasts many days. 5 days average with very few calls. mostly sms.

Nokia has just released some cheapo Android phones with a horrible tile (Windows Phone 8) UI. They also cannot connect to the Google Play Store, although you can sideload Android apps into them.

The 8210 I brought in 2001 still work but I need a new battery for it. I used it for 6 yr until I brought a Samsung camera hp but use it for 6 mth before my wife took it off my hand when her Sony got stolen and I brought a cheap Samsung from 7-11 for $80 and I used it till 2012. Then I brought a iPhone 4 which I am still using. Will complete 3 yrs in June this year and look like still can last for a couple more years.

Moral of the story, it not the brand that determine the reliability but how the user operate the phone. All the mobile phones I brought are still working and I used them for more than 2 years and colleagues always tell me to renew contract for a new phone but why Must i spend more on a new phone when the current phone still working fine? My iPhone 4 is stock set with the original OS, even the hp shop ah beng shock when He helped me to replace the screen protector last month.

If you read the forums in the fuckwarezone many of the smartphones have software problems especially when there is an upgrade of the OS. Smartphones are after all mini computers.

In the old days the trend was to make handphones smaller but nowadays the trend is to make them bigger because people want to use them for surfing & watching movies. I already have a computer & an iPad so really don't really need a smart phone. For my simple needs they are too big & complicated & use too much power.

If you need to do financial transactions on a smartphone or need to keep your privacy for content go for iPhone. Androids are highly prone to malware and bot controls. Most people do not even know they are infected and their valuable data is compromised.

The other noted for security rigour is BB but it is struggling.

I have been using iphone and find it the most user friendly. I have also another Sony android phone and it is so difficult to use, always telling me the memory is full when i have not downloaded anything. Only recently then i realised it is due to the phone internal memory is too small. The only complaint i have for iphone is the screen is too small. Btw Maybank has an app on iphone so can use that for trading the Malaysia shares.

You should not spend so much time on smart phone. Sinking land needs you to bash PAPPIES. For a start, just shout PAPPIES, KNNBCCB! And you realise you don't need any smart phones. Come! Please try here. Take a while to get use to it. For a start, can try 'KOPISAI go give dog fuck!'.
