Heard on CNA radio news at 2 pm that Police smashed the windows on the driver's side in this incident.
Who gave the reporters this piece of fake news?

Even if true, vehicle got away. To make matters worse, no police vehicle gave chase. You have police cars ready to chase if you dont stop at police road blocks. Lastly, it took too long to finally detect location of vehicle. 4-5 hours later?

Something is seriously wrong with the SPF.
With the IU and the various tracking satellites not to mention the ever-presence of the cameras along the roads, we needed 5 hours to get the guy?
ASSUMING the number plates were not fake, 2 minutes is all it takes for the SPF to get into the LTA master computer to find out where the guy stays and viola, they should be waiting for him at his door step when he returns home.
What excuse are they going to give now, apart from Pinnochio Teo saying he is disappointed?

The man who drove his old Mercedes-Benz past the Woodlands Checkpoint on Saturday managed to do so because a security barrier meant to stop unauthorised cars from leaving the checkpoint was ineffective.
It was the first time the barrier failed to stop a car, said the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) on Sunday.
On Saturday, the man, a 65-year-old Malaysian national, who is also a Singapore permanent resident, drove the Singapore-registered car through the checkpoint at 4.05pm after he was stopped for a boot check.
He bolted from the checkpoint and evaded the authorities for more than five hours, before he was arrested by the police at 9.15pm.
The security barrier, installed in 2006, was about knee height and designed to puncture the tyres of vehicles that try to drive over it. It is checked daily and on Saturday punctured one of the tyres of the car, but did not stop it in its tracks. The ICA is investigating why the barrier was ineffective.
The failure of the security barrier drew a sharp rebuke from Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean on Sunday: "The alarm and barrier systems at the checkpoints are inadequate, and they need to be improved and strengthened considerably."
Mr Teo, who is also the Home Affairs Minister overseeing the ICA, added: "I have directed the commissioner of the ICA to implement measures to better secure our checkpoints as soon as possible."
The police revealed on Sunday that the man is also under probe for drug offences, saying that a packet suspected to contain drugs was found when the man was arrested.
But the police would not be drawn into giving details of how the drugs were found, or how these were connected to the checkpoint breach on Saturday.
They also declined to explain why the manhunt took longer than five hours, only saying that they had devoted extensive resources for the search and the man was determined to give police the slip, through methods including abandoning the car.
The man is likely to be charged in court tomorrow.

Yes in those hours he was free, he must have disposed whatever contraband he might have. Could have been drugs, cigarettes, weapons,.....or whatever. Wonder what the authorities will charge him with since they have no evidence of what was smuggling

Even as Big Nose Teo is setting up an independent review panel to look into the findings of internal probes of wrong doings and misconduct by its officers, the latest scandal of the 65-year old an breaching the spikes at the Causeway underscores who screwed up the ministry it. First it was a potential IMH woman who drove around for three days touring Singapore.
Now it took all of 5 hours before a GOLD Mercedes was found and another few hours before the suspect was arrested.
Why doesn't Big Nose or the govt insist that all internal wrong doings are reviewed by the officers from another ministry? Then we will avoid the use of all the "overview/oversight" by an independent panel?
Maybe Toothpick Thief Shit Say should be asked a few questions on the subject of raising productivity at the higher level in the ministries.

While they are busily strengthening the front door already got many who will enter Spore by the back door.
