It's a strange feeling watching Juan Mata play in a red Man Utd jersey.

Good win for Mata and Utd and Liverpool. Today is when the Arsenal challenge starts to break down. Wenger is not a happy man. Ramsey could be out for up to a month.

The January transfer window closed with a whimper.

Arsenal and Liverpool may regret that they didn't do more.
Man City gave others a glimmer of hope by not doing more.

Arsenal have confirmed the deadline day signing of Sweden international Kim Kallstrom on loan.
He is 31 year old from Spartak Moscow.
Chelsea have completed the signing of St Etienne defender Kurt Zouma, 21 year od.
with the defender loaned back to the French club for the rest of the season.
Man City fail to agree Mangala and Fernando deal,
same as Liverpool, did not secure any new signing.
It turns out that “the baby-faced assassin” is a smilingly pleasant revolutionary.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been the manager at Cardiff for only four weeks,
but that has proved long enough to make six signings.
Magnus Wolff Eikrem, Mats Moller Daehli, Jo Inge Berget, Kenwyne Jones, Wilfried Zaha and Fabio da Silva
have been welcomed to Wales.

Arsenal:
I am trying to understand Wenger's logic here. Kallstrom is an ageing midfielder whose best days are behind him. They really needed a striker as cover for if Giroud gets injured. I don't usually agree with Piers Morgan of CNN (who is also a Gooner) but he's right when he says Arsenal have blown their chances of the title this year by not coughing up and buying a decent striker.

Was Julian Draxler the answer? No, not really a striker but if he has a successful World Cup with Germany , the GBP37m will seem peanuts to Schalke should Arsenal wish to bid again for him in the summer. A wasted opportunity to buy a talented 20 year old German International in my view.

Cardiff:
OGS really went on a spending spree in this transfer window (not that it will make much difference to their imminent relegation).

QPR:
A good move for Adel Taarabt moving to AC Milan. Always though he deserved better than playing Championship football with us.
Unlike Julio César for whom I have al but lost total respect. Instead of moving on and getting regular playing time, he has decided to continue to sit on the QPR bench and get paid GBP60,000 per for the privilege. Clearly, he's only with us for the $$$. But sadly he's still Brazil's number one keeper.

Bottom 10 teams fighting for survival.
Stoke 25pts.
Swansea 24
Hull 24
Sunderland 24
Norwich 24
West Brom 23
C Palace 23
West Ham 22
Cardiff 21
Fulham 19

Stoke remain stable there
Swansea is dropping
Hull free fall
Sunderland is moving away
Norwich still can't get out
West Brom is joining the battle
C Palace will fight till the last game
West Ham is hanging for dear life
Cardiff might pull over
Fulham is doomed.

Interesting BBC article on the Brazil No1.

Agüero is out for at least a month. But no excuses, even with the quality Negredo, Dzeko and Silva, it was a poor performance.
Sill think its a two horse race between City and Chelsea.

And goal shy Arsenal will drop points in Feb/Mar/Apr when their injuries problem mount....
