Re: Are you a speckie ???

These days, speckie can go surgery, come out no specs..

you are right.many have successful lasik.
but some unfortunate ones have to live with some irreparable visual disturbances.
my friend went for the lasik and he has to live with giddiness and blurred vision - an unfortunate event
but you have to sign a long list of disclaimer before the surgery ...so like this lah
he cannot sue the doctor and he has to live with it...so do be careful if you decide to throw away your glasses....

Re: Are you a speckie ???

I think and I assume many intellectuals here wear glasses. Am I right?

I also think most clever and smart people also wear glasses. They look so learned and so knowledgeable with the glasses.

I don't see samsengkias wear glasses?

Agree. Lasik surgery is a risk, if the surgery turns out bad, then can regret whole life.

Probably due to too much reading, as well as reading in low light. Samseng don't read so much so no need wear specs.

Some are genetics though. Have seen 3 or 4-year old kid with very thick glasses..

Will the barriers keep out the floods ?

With storms likely to occur more often in future, the authorities have started equipping MRT stations with flood barriers.

The first six have been retrofitted at a cost of $2.2 million, with barriers similar to those used in Hong Kong's MTR stations. Design works for another 11 stations are ongoing, said a Land Transport Authority (LTA) spokesman.

The first batch of stations - Tanjong Pagar, Orchard, Raffles Place, City Hall, Novena and Little India - were selected as they are more vulnerable to flooding, said SMRT director for media and marketing communications Alina Boey.

In its Code of Practice on surface water drainage, national water agency PUB states that the underground rapid transit system must be "stringently protected against flood risks".

Glad they have the foresight to think about installing a barrier. IF the underground tunnels really get flooded, it means the trains in the tunnel are also flooded which means people in the train can drown. IF that really happens, the whole of PAP cabinet must resign. No more "let's move on" bullshit.

This is an example of a carry ball post... that is the way to survive in the PAP.

they will install flood barriers after evacuating all passengers and shutting down the station, not when trains are carrying passengers. :p
