The best Hokkien Mee was the guy selling between the 2 buildings near to Telok Kurau Road and East Coast Road junction between 2 coffee shops that no longer exist.

The corner coffee next to the Telok Kurau junction was torned down to make way for a larger road to Marine Parade. There used to be the best Yong Tau Foo stall there.

Ah Sheng hokkien mee. He's now selling at East Coast lagoon FC.

ah ...very different in some areas but strangely some parts didnt change much ...although the houses may be newer and bigger.

You migrated or just in a different part of sinkiepoor?

I ask cos east coast guys seldom move away from the area.

Must make an attempt to visit my old kampong......haven't been back for decades.

I went there last week but can't find the shop liao. Think he probably sold his lot and retired liao as only he and his wife were manning stall all these years. Didn't know he was formerly from East Coast Road.

Ah Sheng has been selling Hokkien mee since the 60's.

Another stall that is original from the 50's is the pork & chicken porridge and Roxy laksa stall at lagoon fc.

That time he had a tricycle that he will wheeled to the location and start selling in the evening.

Dawood was an institution. After midnight, the only hope for spicy and cheap food. 2 am wake up, cannot sleep, stumble around for car keys and wallet, drive straight to Dawood. Then call Kaki. Keen abused by their spouses.

Yup. That place was called Dawoods and very popular in East area as one of the few 24 x 7 places then.

So many forumers hung out at Dawoods during the weekend wee hours, we may have met without knowing all those years ago

I have always been an Eastern boy but your mention of Star Soccer brings back nice memories. I think they renamed it Big League Soccer after that. Those were the days when we only had one hour of English fotball a week and had to rely on 2 months old magazines like Shoot since they were all sent via sea mail.

Do you remember the cardboard league tables that used to come free with Shoot during the start of the season. It had individual coloured tabs for each team and I used to refer to Monday newspapers to manually update my table when ST published the updated league tables.
