SINGAPORE - Zhenghua residents will join hands with grassroots leaders to launch an anti-gang and anti-loanshark campaign this Sunday afternoon.

The campaign aims to educate residents about crime and propagate the concept of self-help in crime prevention. In line with this, 500 banners will be installed at 105 community centres and other locations islandwide.

On the banner, residents will see the police hotline -

Call 1-800-2-55-0000 if you want to be homie
Call 1-800-9-24-5664 if you want to enrol as a loan shark apprentice

If members of the public have a problem with gang and /or loansharks, or know of anyone associated with them, they can call the hotlines for help or to provide vital information.

32-year-old Desmond Lim from Zhenghua CERT-on-Patrol (COP) said: "After the unfortunate gangfight incident at Bukit Panjang, our COP volunteers and the police have stepped up patrolling efforts and we now see fewer youths loitering around the estate. The banner will help to reinforce our efforts and spread the message."
