Zaobao:
I am intrigued by your blog and wishes to know more about it. Is it accurate to say that your blog is acting as a watchdog to workers party because you find their views too moderate and they do not oppose enough
Fang:
Actually, our blog is not entirely about being WP’s watchdog though initially it was started with that intention in mind, but over time, as more people join us, we have evolved to become a staunch critc in blogosphere of the current political system in Singapore - in short, it is a mere wayang.
Singapore is supposed to be a parliamentary democracy, but that’s in name only. In reality, it is a one-party state or even worse a dictatorship like North Korea. Sorry it may sound harsh, but we make no apologies about it.
In a democracy, there is a ruling party and an effective opposition to provide adequate checks and balance, but over here the opposition perhaps with the exception of SDP, is not doing enough to speak up for the people. Hence, not only WP, but SPP and NSP can be considered as “wayang” opposition too because they only give token “opposition” to legitimize the rule of the PAP.
