Gmail down: Current status and problems as Google services stop working worldwide

Gmail, Google and YouTube websites are not working for many users around the world.

The problem was reported on Monday morning just before 12 noon. Pupils across Wales will be using the system as high school children start their first day of online learning.

There were also issues reported in other parts of the world, with India reporting problems with Gmail and YouTube.

According to DownDetector, the issues started at around 11:56am, and are affecting users worldwide. Google is yet to comment on the issues.

Not much more to update yet but we're seeing and getting word from others that multiple Google services have gone down. Gmail, YouTube and Google Docs are all experiencing outages, with dozens, even hundreds, of reports we've seen so far coming in from across Europe, the US, India, South Africa and more.

Downtime site indicators are showing big spikes for the services dropping starting from around 11.30AM UK time.

Google.com itself appears to still be working, though.

So far we aren't seeing any explanations for what is going on -- please get in touch if you know something, I'm on Twitter here and do read direct messages and replies, no point in emailing me! Mainly, it's an unprecedented failure for a system that has grown to be one of biggest traffic and activity drivers on the internet.

YouTube has gone down, with the video site failing to load at all.
Users simply see a message reading “oops”, a note saying that “something went wrong” and a picture of a monkey carrying a tool.
The outage appeared to affect all of Google’s services: Gmail, Google Drive and its other products were also experiencing issues. The Google search page was working as normal

it was down for 69 minutes at the wee hours of the morning and when we woke up at 6.9am it was back in service again, thus no one kpkb. but in sg timezone i suppose it’s a big deal. they said it’s data storage issue during maintenance period and not related to any cyber attack.
