A full-time national serviceman has been convicted of sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl.
Li Guo Qiang, 20, had got to know the primary six girl through an online game in January 2009.
The two had exchanged email addresses and Li subsequently obtained the girl's phone number.
Within a six-month period, he made at least three phone calls every week to the girl
He chatted frequently with her and eventually formed a brother-sister relationship with her.
He also began to condition her to the topic of sex, her sexuality and physical intimacy.
Li would also call the girl and make sexual noises over the phone to her while he was masturbating and watching porn films.
He would then describe to her the sex acts in the porn films and how he felt about them.
Over the phone, he also asked her if she was a virgin and if she could send him her nude photos.
The girl agreed.
After he received her nude photos, Li repeatedly asked her for sex.
The two eventually met for the first time in September 2009 after the girl's PSLE exams.
On their first meeting, Li took the girl to the stairwell of a nearby HDB block and there, the two began to hug and kiss.
Li then groped her breasts and private parts, before asking her to perform oral sex on him.
The second time they met, Li visit the girl at her house where they tried to have sex but failed to do so.
On their third date, Li once again asked the girl for oral sex.
Their affair was eventually found out in November 2009 when the girl's father discovered her sending topless photos of herself to someone on Facebook.
The angry father confronted Li, then made a police report.
Li has pleaded guilty and has been ordered to go for treatment for mild depression.
He has also been ordered to cease contact with the victim and to stay indoors from 10pm to 6am.
His internet activities will be controlled and monitored from now on and his parents have signed a $5,000 bond to ensure his good behaviour.
