Youth arrested for suspected snatch theft

SINGAPORE: A 16-year-old male believed to be involved in a case of snatch theft at Commonwealth Drive was arrested on Monday (Sep 29).
The Singapore Police Force said in its press release on Tuesday that a 34-year-old female victim reported on Sep 25 that her mobile phone, valued at S$1,050, was snatched by an unknown male at Commonwealth Drive before fleeing towards Queensway.
The police later established the identity of the suspect, and arrested him on Sep 29. A mobile phone was recovered from the suspect, they added.
The youth will be charged in court on Oct 1 for the offence of snatch theft. He faces up to seven years in jail and caning if convicted. - CNA/kk
