This is an interesting word, I first learnt it from an Agatha Christie novel many years ago.
Several years back in the old Dephi forum, I wrote about a potential nemesis of mine. He was an old primary school mate whom I barely remembered, and didn't even know why he disliked me. Let's call him BH for short.
The first encounter with him after primary school was I think during army time. One day, for no rhyme or reason, he just walked past me in a shopping mall and uttered a vulgarity. He then walked off. I and the 2 friends who were with me, were too shocked to react. I didn't think too much of it, until a few years later, when I spotted him at a food court, seated and watching me. Don't know whether either meetings were conincidences or whether he was following me, but I started becoming wary at that point. But still could not understand why he disliked me.
For a few years, I didn't meet him, or at least I didn't see him. :o
The next time I saw him was at the same food court. He was seated with a male friend talking animatedly. I observed him for a few minutes, but I don't think he saw me that day. A few months later, I spotted him walking with a girl who looked like a prc national. I don't think he saw me, but the first though that came to my mind was that things were looking up for him, or at least perhaps he thought so. (You never know with prc nationals especially women.)
I just wonder whether my nemesis ever considered that I could now become HIS nemesis.
Are you or have you ever been someone's nemesis? Have you ever considered that you might have a nemesis? What would you do in either situation?
