Young woman arrested for series of thefts

SINGAPORE - A 21-year-old woman has been arrested for possibly committing a series of thefts from lockers.
Police received several reports of theft which happened at a fitness centre located at Republic Plaza between July and December 2012.
Through follow-up investigations, officers from the Marina Bay Neighbourhood Police Centre (NPC) managed to establish her identity and arrested her on Wednesday at about 9.25pm at Republic Plaza.
She is believed to be responsible for at least nine cases of theft from lockers between July and December 2012.
Nine ez-link cards, one LG handphone, one Samsung Tab, one Apple iPod and US cash $11 were also seized as case exhibits.
The offence of theft carries a maximum jail term of three years imprisonment, or with fine or both.
The police advice patrons of gyms to secure their lockers with good quality locks and for gym operators to provide a safe and secure environment for their patrons.
