Attract members via Facebook

THE bar has just been raised for the Young PAP (YP).
It is looking to have 1,000 new members this year, and new media like Facebook are handy in reaching this goal.
Young PAP chairman Teo Ser Luck said the YP, on average, gets over 700 new members a year and is likely to hit the 800-plus figure this year.
Hence, 1,000 is the 'stretch target' figure.
Mr Teo, Senior Parliamentary Secretary at the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, as well as the Ministry of Transport, spoke to the press at the YP Investiture and Awards Ceremony 2009 on Saturday.
He said the YP is reaching out via new media such as Facebook.
Different viewpoints are also being expressed via new media.
Mr Teo said a new YP Facebook group was set up recently as a 'test' - and the response turned out to be very good.
'All of a sudden, in a couple of days, we got a few hundred people signing up,' he said.
Another initiative, called YP Empower, enables ordinary YP members to form groups and brainstorm ideas, for example, in attracting more members to join in campaigning efforts at election time.
