No question about her academic underachievement. But that is the symptom, not the root cause. She definitely has some learning ability issues or inadequate coping mechanism or she may be harbouring some heart issues that distract her from achieving her best. I think getting her out of the stress of high expectations is the right thing to do in order to alleviate her problem of coping in a highly competitive environment. However, if everyone including her parents still expects the best out of her, then it is a mistake. She cannot be the 'RGS' girl that she once was. Your expectations have to be reset. Or else, she will be miserable for life.
