Prison officials have affairs with prisoners' wives and girlfriends
MUNTINLUPA, Philippines - Some prisoners at the National Penitentiary and other prisons in the country get a double whammy in detention.
The first blow against them is, of course, their loss of freedom.
The second blow is not of the government's doing: Their wives, girlfriends or daughters become paramours of prison officials and guards.
The liaison between the wife, girlfriend or daughter of a prisoner and a prison official or guard starts during a visit by the hapless woman to her imprisoned loved one.
The prison official or guard sees the woman, befriends her and promises to take special care of her husband, boyfriend or father.
The courtship starts and continues while the woman keeps visiting her loved one in prison.
The woman falls for the special attention that is lavished on her by the prison lothario, which she misses from her husband, boyfriend or father.
And the poor woman is trapped and later regrets her infidelity.
