SINGAPORE: The InfoComm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) has informed the public not to be alarmed about unusual activity on government social media channels following publication of a press release by alleged member of hacktivist group Anonymous.

IDA said a member of the public claiming to be from Anonymous had published a "press release" on Pastebin on January 16, demanding the release of five men who were arrested for vandalising a wall in Singapore.

IDA said the "press release" called on supporters to tweet storm on Singapore government’s Twitter accounts at @govsingapore and @MFAsg.

Supporters were also told to email Foreign Affairs Minister K Shanmugam or Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

IDA said tweet storms do not affect government network infrastructure.

IDA said the government takes cyber security and such threats very seriously at all times.

The government does not condone actions designed to disrupt public services or cause inconvenience to the public.

IDA said the government would allow the law to take its course.

It advised the public not to be alarmed should they notice any unusual activity on the government social media channels.

It also reminded the public to be vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect themselves especially as Singapore gets increasingly digitally connected.

The problem with anonymous is anyone can be/pretend to be anonymous, even the garment.

The problem with not being anonymous and 'showing face' is being attacked by the garment/secret garment since everyone can see/know who you are.

How do u know the garment is not faking it?

Take the honda civic SGK5423 case for example.

He said he received death threats. How do we the 'normal netizens' know that no one from the secret garment pretend to be a 'normal netizen' and threaten him? Then put the blame on 'normal netizen' and creating new laws to prevent netizens from criticizing the garment/'waking others up' anonymously.

You know the possibility is there.
