【星島日報報道】衞生署衞生防護中心今日正與醫院管理局跟進首宗於本港檢測到的耳念珠菌個案，涉及一名曾到訪瑞士的病人，並提醒市民正確使用抗菌素和保持個人衞生以預防感染。
瑪嘉烈醫院表示，一名48歲男病人在5月19日因肺栓塞接受治療，先後入住深切治療部和內科及老人科病房。其呼吸道樣本經檢測後，在6月24日確定帶有耳念珠菌，但並無感染徵狀。該名病人在入院前曾到瑞士旅遊，現正於傳染病中心接受隔離治療，情況穩定。醫院根據既定指引，對病人的緊密接觸者展開追蹤篩查。
醫院感染控制組已經將有關個案呈報醫院管理局總辦事處及衞生防護中心，與有關部門及衞生防護中心的專家商討，並加強執行感染控制措施：徹底清潔及消毒相關病房；加強病人及環境篩查；及嚴格執行接觸傳播防護措施，加強員工及病人手部衞生。
醫院會繼續緊密監察該名病人的情況，並會與相關部門及衞生防護中心繼續跟進。
衞生防護中心解釋，耳念珠菌的抗藥性一般比其他念珠菌較高。視乎感染的部位及病人的整體健康狀況，耳念珠菌感染可從輕微至可能危及生命，甚或致命。用作治療耳念珠菌感染的藥物組別，基本上與現時普遍用作治療嚴重真菌感染的抗真菌藥無異，這些藥物都已在港註冊並在本地市場銷售。然而，耳念珠菌對不少這類藥物具有抗藥性，故對治療方案構成限制及影響成效。

Princess Margaret Hospital said that a 48-year-old male patient was admitted to the intensive care unit and the internal medicine and geriatric ward on May 19 for treatment due to pulmonary embolism.
