More big shipping firms stop Red Sea routes after attacks

The world's largest shipping group, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), has announced it is diverting its ships away from the Red Sea because of an increased threat of attacks.

French company CMA CGM took a similar step a day after Danish shipping giant Maersk and German transport company Hapag-Lloyd suspended Red Sea journeys.
The decision comes after attacks by Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen.

They say they are targeting ships travelling to Israel.

The Houthis have declared their support for Hamas after Israel launched a military campaign in Gaza following the 7 October Hamas attacks that killed 1,200 people and saw 240 more taken hostage.
Since then, Israel has killed more than 18,000 Palestinians in Gaza, Hamas health officials say.

The Red Sea is one the world's most important routes for oil and fuel shipments.

But the Houthis have been stepping up their attacks, using drones and rockets against foreign-owned vessels.

They have also been firing drones and missiles towards Israel. The US said on Saturday its guided-missile destroyers had shot down 14 Houthi drones in the Red Sea.
In its announcement, MSC said the situation in the area had become "serious".

It said that its container ship MSC PALATIUM III was attacked on Friday as it was transiting the Red Sea. There were no injuries to the crew, but the ship had been taken out of service.

Its ships were being re-routed via the Cape of Good Hope at the southern tip of Africa.
In its statement, CMA CGM - the world's third-largest shipping company - said it had instructed all its container ships there "to reach safe areas and pause their journey in safe waters with immediate effect until further notice".

Maersk, the world's second-biggest shipping firm, has described the situation as "alarming".

"Following the near-miss incident involving Maersk Gibraltar yesterday and yet another attack on a container vessel today, we have instructed all Maersk vessels in the area bound to pass through the Bab al-Mandab Strait to pause their journey until further notice," it told the BBC on Friday.

The four companies that have now suspended operations in the area comprise four of the top five in the world - and shipping experts say the decisions are going to be costly.

"It's security to the crew, to the ship itself and also insurance policies. Premiums are now going sky high if they can get insurance at all, so it's going to have serious implications on stock levels, on costs and the whole dynamics of supply chains," Sue Terpilowski from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, which represents companies concerned with supply chains, told the BBC.

The added crewing, fuel and insurance costs are all likely to be passed on to consumers, says BBC business reporter Vivienne Nunis.

The Bab al-Mandab strait - also known as the Gate of Tears - is a channel 20 miles (32km) wide, and known for being perilous to navigate.
It sits between Yemen on the Arabian Peninsula and Djibouti and Eritrea on the African coast.

It is the route by which ships can reach the Suez Canal from the south - itself a major shipping lane. Avoiding it means vessels must take much longer routes, for example navigating around southern Africa.

About 17,000 ships and 10% of global trade pass through it every year. Any ship passing through Suez to or from the Indian Ocean has to come this way.

Never, ever, UNDER-ESTIMATE INGEUNITY of Humankind.

While the Persia Shia Iranian authorities whom are directing the confused Houthi Yemen rebels, are intelligent, there are 7 BILLION MORE Humankind whom had proven FAR MORE mental intelligence, to overcome OBSTACLES.

The Red Sea route would shorten journeys, but IS NOT THE ONLY ROUTE, nor so rounding the treacherous seas & corrupted states of Southern Africa.

For a ship to travel from eg - Asia to Europe & vs, it may cost more in fuel & time, & the offloaded cargo ship returning to its base, thus driving up costs. But it need not necessarily be.

TRANS-SHIPMENT is the solution.

1.)
Sail to Madagascar, offload cargo, then return back to base.

2) Another ship will take cargo, then sail the S.African coast & head to Europe or the Americas.

or

3) Create a DIRECT ROAD OR RAIL TRANSPORTATION network between Tanzania & Zaire, - the thinnest part of Continental Africa, as most cargos are in standard size CONTAINER Forms, or directly from Asia to Panama by sail thru the Pacific Ocean.

The point is - NO nation is INDESPENSIBLE, to Human ingenuity, progress, peace & evolution. Also, with hydrogen fuel cells & hybrid engines used by ships, the dependence on fossil fuel will only get lesser. So who are the ones whom will lose big time by this ILLEGAL & PIRATIC blockage of INTERNATIONAL WATERS by Persian Iran?

Do the Persian Rulers - Apostate Ayatollahs & military, respect even any Human or International laws except those that ensures its own delusional ancient dreams as a, sadly, as history had proven, a brutal empire subjugating Humanity once again?

Another thing: those drones that the Houthis are using... where did they come from?

Once you figure this out, the entire puzzle starts to unravel.

The houthis are not Persian. They are shiite arabs. There are coptic christian arabs, catholic arabs, Baptist.....arabs are not all sunni muslims.
But as shiite, their " pope" is the ayatollah. Sunnis have no such designation.

OBVIOUSLY too, are you. Ignorance is not a crime & thus the insignificant nobody me would not blame you or heap any blame upon you.

You probably are lacking in Human Behavioral sciences, & thus your limited perceptions.

Many, if not ALL, of the Houthis may be Islamic Shia sect related in beliefs, but RELIGION is a powerful tool to arise individuals, thru Shared common beliefs & goals, at least for the present, & Shia Persia Iran leaders are NOT fools to REALIZE such OPPORTUNITIES, as such morons are only to be used & abused at will, with PLAUSIBILITY of denial, after all, those Houthis misled by Iran beasts such as the expatriate HIZBOLLAHS, are only cannon fodders for the delusional apostate Ayatollahs & military to use, without a care.

The Houthis issue at the ROOT AROUSED not because of religion, but because of the widespread corruption of the Yemen leaders. The Houthis were NOT persecuted because of RELIGION, but only upon corruption & UTTER MISMANAGEMENT by the Yemen rulers back then. They only sought what ALL free Humankind values - peace, prosperity, justice, equality, prosperity, etc, to progress & evolve.

Such had been denied by the corrupted Yemen govt back then, & thus their revolt.

WORSE still, Shia Persia Iran saw an OPPORTUNITY to MAKE USE the naive & foolish Houthis, with promises of moon & stars, brotherhood under Islam perverted by them, & yet, after years of struggle, it got no where, worse still now, under Shia Persian Iran Hizbollahs, to become canon fodders for an ANGERED 7 Billion Humankind whom may face starvation & unemployment should the illegal & piratic actions under orders by Shia Persia Iran comes to pass.

Fortunately, Humanity is not ignorant. There will be MANY ways to overcome obstacles as our ancient & present forefathers had taught us.

But sadly, the losers will be the Houthis, whom had been fooled by an ancient empire seeking to relive its ancient glories, as well as the highly paid by Iranian Houthi collaborators, as what was done in Gaza Strip, to BETRAY the Houthis aspirations, but only for Persian glory ....

The insignificant nobody me had NEVER profess to have high IQ. What others presume of me, is freely of their own perceptions of which I have NO control over.

However, is that all you can say in your quote. Is that a sign of YOUR OWN intelligence? If so, perhaps village morons can lead nations with such a quote as you had used, as, even I know they can mouth such simple words with a one liner & expect to be believed, & even worshipped upon knees....

No, Egypt is NOT a hypocrite. They are NOT Phoenicians that the Arabs were. They built up a Civilization far & beyond what the Phoenicians could, that lasted for centuries even till today.

Should one rely on ancient history, then it was true that they were punished, but their civilization were allowed to continue on today. The blame lays upon their leaders of that era of punishment & not upon all Egyptians. No mortal is perfect, & in this modern century, they did attempt to secure more lands by blind leaders whom foolishly subscribed to the ideology of fellow Humans into the sea, but was stopped & eventually led to peace between Egyptians & Israel.

Under the often criticized but an undeterred & determined leader, Egyptian saw progress, despite attempts thru the fallacious so called 'Muslim Brotherhood', which was only another attempt by Shia Persian Iran to decimate Sunnis Worldwide.

Religion is one thing, but social compact is another, in Egypt that had attempted to modernize Islam thru its highly regarded Al Azhar University that does not just offer religious studies, but science & tech, that many devoted Muslims had wanted to learn from, than others whom are less regarded, even in Saudi Arabia, let alone the many so called institutions Worldwide where just a few qoutes from the Quran from a village idiot would guarantee a place in a mosque as an Imam.,,

Current Egyptian leaders ALREADY KNEW FULL WELL OF WHAT THE ARABS - SPECIFICALLY THOSE WHOM ARE UNEVOLVED PALESTINIANS, would do to their country, sadly which other nations did not, as EGYPTIANS saw what the Arabs would do even when they received benefits, to only attempt to OVERTHROW the recognized kingdom of Jordon.

Over this issue of attempted closure by the Persian Iran manipulated Iran leadership, Egyptians too WORRY about how such ILLEGAL & PIRACTIC acts would do to its own economy. The Suez economy is a source of honest income for the elected Egyptian govt, & they know how important economy is its people. None can rule a nation on empty bellies, even as Iran realizes now & thus their DESPERATE but UTTERLY FOOLISH attempts to CONTROL the mess they had made since the apostate Ayatollahs ruled.

The lie that Iran had used to close the Red Sea washes over Egyptian backs. A reckoning awaits.....even if Egyptian leaders play the silent & plausibility of denial game that Iran uses....

The ones whom will suffer, as the Palestinians did, will be citizens of Yemen, both Shias & Sunnis, should they not realize realities that they had been USED by Persia Iran & its expatriate Hizbollahs as Lebanon, Palestine & Syria had suffered. What Persia Iran touches, turn to dust despite its promises of moon & stars, proven for decades even to Iranian citizens living in Iran,.....and time, sadly, is running out for Yemen citizens whom only desires for alleviation from its sufferings....

Houthis may have got their ammo from iran, but are totally independent when it comes to decisions. They have been at war with their sunni brothers since 1960's even when ayatollah was not in power.
Israel will not suffer from red sea vessel attacks. Their fleet are comparitively small.
Its Egypt that will suffer as ships avoid using the suez canal. And due to significant duration of route through cape of africa, the supply issues will be disrupted yet again.

Palestinians have suffered since the jews started migrating to their land since early last century. They have lost homes and cities. And many compromises they did, but to no avail dimply because they negotiate from point of weakness.
Two state solution have been voted in the UN numerous times but was objected by israel and vetoed by the US. So you see, its the israelis who wants Palestinians out and slowly they are winning as many pelestinians have already given up and left for other countries.

Joe Biden warned 'no one takes him seriously' as EU brutally snubs US

France, Spain, and Italy have all announced their withdrawal from the US Command Structure for Operation Prosperity Guardia.

US President Joe Biden has been warned that "no one takes him seriously" as a military operation in the US collapses due to the withdrawal of European countries from its command structure.

France, Spain, and Italy all announced their withdrawal from the US Command Structure for Operation Prosperity Guardian, adding that they will only conduct further Maritime Operations under the Command of NATO and or the European Union – not the United States.

Operation Prosperity Guardian is a military operation in the Red Sea started earlier this month to respond to attacks on shipping carried out by Houthi rebels, a Yemeni group backed by Iran.

The Houthis say their attacks are being carried out in response to Israel's attacks on Gaza following Hamas' killing of 1,200 civilians in the country on October 7.

Responding to the news on X, one commenter said: "Biden is a weak president. No one takes him seriously."

President Biden has supported Israel's campaign to "destroy Hamas" in Gaza, despite international concern that the Israeli response, which has killed more than 20,000 Palestinians, could be disproportionate.

However, Mr Biden did warn Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that his country is losing the support of the international community.

He said last week that Israel “has the European Union, it has Europe, it has most of the world supporting them, but they’re starting to lose that support by indiscriminate bombing that takes place”.

Recent polling has now shown that Mr Biden's hopes of being reelected may have been impacted by his stance on the conflict in the Middle East.

A recent poll from The New York Times and Siena College found that only one-third of registered voters approve of President Biden’s handling of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The survey also showed that 37 percent of registered voters approve of Mr Biden as a president overall.

Of voters younger than 30, a key demographic for the Democrats, Mr Biden's approval rating is just 26 percent overall 20 percent on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Overall, 19 percent of registered voters say both that they disapprove of Biden on the conflict and that it’s because he’s too supportive of Israel, rising to 45 percent among voters younger than 30.
