Yang Mi, China's 2012 highest grosser


5 Jan – Xu Jinglei may have been China's top grossing actress of the decade, but it is actress Yang Mi who was crowned with the title for 2012.

Popular Asians reported that her 2012 films grossed CNY 1.14 billion (app. USD 183 million) in the mainland box office as of December 2012, leading the 26-year-old actress to be named the highest grossing actress of 2012.

Yang Mi, whose popularity increased after starring in the 2011 drama "Palace", appeared in nine blockbuster films in 2012, including the highly successful "Painted Skin: The Resurrection" which earned CNY 702 million at the box office.

It should be noted that, if not for "Painted Skin: The Resurrection", most of her 2012 movies have received mediocre critical reception.

Meanwhile, the actress is currently busy producing her studio's first drama, "Chinese Girl", which is a Chinese version of America's "Gossip Girl".
