The real issue could be that there are too many cases and complaints of a sexual nature going on there and no one quite knows how to deal with it anymore.

One speculation is it is not only between students, amongst seniors harassing juniors, alumni harassing students, but maybe, includes faculty-student indecent liaisons.

Since when has the government ever turned away from cash cows and elitism even at a financial loss? Maybe it is when this fire of a sexual nature is escalating into a brewing scandal that has wide ranging ramifications. Some examples are:
1) some v.v.i.p's offspring made pregnant by faculty and/or student, or
2) infected with HIV after a gangbang, or
3) came out of the closet after minds were opened by a liberal education, or
4) all of the above.

To cover this up, conveniently merge other schools in NUS, add in red herring distractions and then whitewash it with a plausible story.

Just to speculate so that a reader's mind can be open to possibilities and question what is reported in the media.

Havent heard from him for some time liao.

national up skirt and up shower doesn’t need ivy league collusion to secure collegiate coitus-chaos confirmation.

I am very impress by bro Chan and his explain nation in parly men. Well done sir!

No Critical Race Theory please! We're Singaporeans. :cautious:

Another hypothesis:
1) USA VP visit Aug 22 to 23/24
2) Yale-NUS announcement Aug 27
3) China FM visit Sept 13 to 14/15

Quite rude and tactless to announce this after a vvip guest has just departed, right?
Is there another way to convince the big guy in your neighbourhood that you are at least "reachable" and not too hard to talk to?

Maybe in a few years there may be a similar arrangement between another local university with a top Chinese University here in Singapore. Kind of hard to envision and do so if there is already such a strong yaleniversity in town, right? I mean, given a choice, which would be more suited to one's linguistics skills?

What do you think?

It is up to you to draw conclusions from the visit. Personally I feel wangi's visit feels less overbearing than komala's given also the two visits follow so closely one after another.

What is there to scoop? This joint venture was doomed from the start. Causes are many. Not surprised they finally pooled the plug. But not the sordid lurid type of reason the TS mentioned.

Reasons:
1) Small enrolment. I think total at any one time not more then 1000 students. How to be profitable?
2) No one wants to graduate from a "college". The Yale-NUS College should have changed its name to Yale - NUS - University
3) The degree conferred is not the same as the one conferred by Yale.
4) Yale student association and some Yale profs were already uncomfortable with setting up a U in S'pore known for its anti gay and anti LGQBT laws. And did criticize the Yale President for doing this
5) The govt cannot control the Yale Faculty send over from Yale to teach, not like they can control the NUS side. SO, probably there were some less them complimentary lecturers on the school, that expressed their negative outlet about the PAP.
6) And finally, the school likely was becoming a hotbed of negative govt activity either with a combination of student activism with the blessing of the faculty.
