STOMPer Albert says his family is faced with a $700K bill because the private hospital his late mother was admitted to did not inform the family that it was possible to transfer her from the ICU to a government hospital.
In an email to STOMP today (31 Aug), the disgruntled STOMPer says:
¡°When my mum was admitted to a private hospital end last year, we were told that a direct transfer from her ICU to a government hospital ICU would not be possible.
¡°However, after she passed away, I wrote in to the hospital and was told that option of transferring her to a government hospital ICU was indeed possible. In fact, it was an option that should have been made known to us especially if we had problems paying the high medical fees.
¡°We are now faced with a heavy bill of $700k, with the balance to be paid up in less than a year. How do we pay and should we pay as we did not have the chance to exercise the option that should have been conveyed to us before.¡±
