Is this really a tribute for the Aljunied and Hougang people? Then why is it being performed at Raffles Hotel, Singapore’s extravagant premier hotel, noted for its colonial heritage and patronised by the rich and famous. This is the place where the rich tai-tais and wealthy elites socialise. The food and beverage restaurants are very expensive while the arcade stores sell lavish goods.
Do ordinary Singaporean workers ever have a chance to walk inside the luxurious Raffles Hotel, with its imposing and overwhelming grandiose façade and opulent decor? 刘姥姥进大观园???
Very seriously, by performing at such a lavish extravagant venue, is Vichy WP really saluting the people of Aljunied and Hougang with this piece of Lan Chiau Wayang or are they trying to salute the “First World” towkays and tai-tais for whom they have been serving so well in their “First World Parliament”?
Perhaps, Vichy WP will be making use of the gullible people of Aljunied and Hougang as sideshow props and extra calefare to entertain and amuse the rich and famous, sniggering at the HDB “barbarians”.
Vichy WP MPs, all of whom being towkays, professional elites and none being workers, perhaps have spent too much time at Raffles Hotel, hobnobbing with the social elites. And thus, Raffles Hotel is the very first venue they can think of to reward their political patrons.
