坦克装甲战车乘员的上厕所问题，几乎是每个国家陆军的装甲部队都会遇到，解决的办法也各不相同。通常的办法，就是在车内特别设置一个小型蹲便马桶，比如俄罗斯BMP-3步兵战车。这种小型蹲便马桶一般会安装在乘员座椅内，打开椅面就能露出来，当然尺寸很小，但是也足够一个人蹲上去进行大小便。这一做法主要是出于实战的考虑，因为在战场上如果车内乘员到车外去进行大小便，很容易遭到敌方的偷袭，特别是在阿富汗战场上，苏军在这方面没少吃游击队的亏。因此，从那之后，只要有条件，俄军都会在坦克以及战车上设置小型马桶。
这种“座椅马桶”并非俄罗斯专利，号称能煮红茶的英国“挑战者”2坦克也确定拥有类似“座椅马桶”。当然，同样是“座椅马桶”，那也是有高低之分的。全世界最“高级”的“座椅马桶”当属德国的“拳师”装甲车，虽然同样是把马桶装到座椅下，但德国人为了避免战车高速行驶时某些物体喷出来，为马桶采用了和飞机类似的无水排污设计，技术含量高，而外观也更好看些，堪称现有战车中的典范。
