More likely they were all dead already on board the aircraft. Otherwise somebody would try break the cockpit door and steer the plane. If this pilot suicide, , somebody would also try to break the cockpit door and take over the control. But no one did. And the plane flew until there was no fuel left. " zombie plane"
Some rig worker in Vietnam saw something on fire in the sky, so pilot took the plane high to 45k ft to extinguish, then fly it low to get some air to breath, but kaputs before he can do anything. And after that, the plane flew on its own. That i think was what happened.

This blackbox outdated technology is so 20th century! With current satellite technology and 21st century telecommunication, all the flight data, telemetry etc need not be confined in that black box which is such a hassle because it has to be retrieved.

Why can't all the data and telemetry be uploaded in real time to an "icloud" type storage for every every aircraft with an "icloud" account set up?

You can't rely on only that. That is an extra step in the recording of information. The uplink from the plane to the nearest orbiting satellite can be done as you say, but if the transmitter is damaged in the course of the plane going down, it may not send the last few minutes of data which is usually the most vital. The FDR my continue to record. Also, the data you mentioned can be transmitted, but I don't think voice can be done. SO, you still need the cockpit voice recorder.

Yes, I guess he is comparing the landing on the relatively calm water of a river in a much smaller plane in broad daylight, surrounded by witnesses, and at low altitude with that of a night landing on an open ocean in an area known for rough waters from a much higher altitude in a much larger plane.
