(Classic flash in pan with England at the wrong end. USA didn't make it through 1st Round, losing the other two games to Spain and Chile.)

(North Korea made it to Quarter-Final versus Portugal. Lost 3:5 in an epic battle against one of the tournament favourites and one of the best, if not the best player in world at the moment, Eusebio.)
1982 : Algeria 2 West Germany 1
(Algeria went on to beat Chile 3:2, ended on same points with West Germany and Austria after Germany beat Austria 1:0. A controversial match filled with complaints of mutual match-fixing as that result enabled both West Germany and Austria to knock out Algeria on goal difference.)
1990 : Cameroon 1 Argentina 0
(Cameroon went on to beat Romania 2:1 to qualify for 2nd Round, and beat Colombia 2:1 to qualify for Quarter-Final, meeting England. Cameroon was even leading England 2:1 towards the end of the game when unfortunately for them, Gary Lineker sprung into form and broke their defence line twice. Twice they were left with not much choice but to trip him over, twice he converted the penalties. Cameroon 2 England 3.)
