It is perfectly understandable because the rest of the countries are still at the lower end of the growth curve whereas Singapore is already close to the pinnacle.

You want 6 to 7% economic growth from a developed country like Singapore? Then you need to import even more foreign talents in the EP and S-Pass categories. But sinkies are worried that they can't compete with pinoys and indians from lowly ranked universities.

Sinkies lose out also because too many of them are adamant in not wanting to work abroad to gain valuable professional skills and networking. Working abroad for a few years really makes a big diff, not just for your CV but also for your potential on the global market.

Its more like LHL has blazed thru all the forest and burnt thru all the fossil fuels(land and people are Singapore's natural resources) in the last 10 years to achieve phenomenal growth,now all the forests are almost cleared and all the oil nearly gone,the growth is slowing down to a dribble and LHL is panicking.LHL is not a visionary he's merely a pillager of earth and mother nature.

I sincerely doubt SG will live to see 6.9 mil,how many more condos and shopping malls can he built?

Actually, I hope he builds more malls and import in more skilled foreigners. I am not keen in the low wage foreigners who have low spending power. I am speaking as an investor in REITs and shareholder in public utilities and transport. The returns I made in share gain and dividends more than offsets the inflation due to rental and transport costs.

Imagine every HDB block is in itself a shopping mall.

The other day I was at the Dover-Buona Vista-Ghim Moh area. That place is like a warzone now... construction sites everywhere. Some of the old flats at Ghim Moh near its CC have been demolished.

The only crime the old flats were guilty of: being only ten storeys tall, hence not conducive to the objectives of the Population White Paper.

I think you are mistaken about Sporeans unwilling to work abroad. I'm sure they would if they could make more $$$.
If you notice Spore has no agreements with any 1st world country that makes it easier for them to work in those countries, I wonder why this is so

If you are a Canadian you can study & work in many of the European countries. They even have the North American Free Trade Agreement that allows them to work in the US.
