Working poor in Singapore can't make ends meet: NUS

Let's use sgd1700 as the yardstick. Their minimum expenditures are:
1) PUB bills - 150
2) Conservancy - 60
3) Transportation - 150
4) Phone bills - 100
5) Children education 200
and many more.
all their basic expenditures are controlled tightly by the government. government can easily lowering their cost of living by lowering the above cost. In reality, government does not do that. In fact, government is making huge profit and milking them. For example, Malaysia sells cheap water to Singapore but government imposes very expensive water tariff to its citizens.

Exactly. The crux of the matter is that all the providers of essential services are government linked companies. And the PAP's aim is to have these GLCs make super super profits by charging exorbitant fees. Likewise the big landlords are all GLCs too and they charge the tenants exorbitant rentals that in turn are filtered down to ordinary folks in higher prices for goods and services.

So it is NOT true that in order to help the poor, taxes must be raised. All the govt has to do is to reduce the charges that its GLCs charge the people. And we are not even talking about fee reduction to the extent that they make losses. We are talking about reductions that would only lead to them earning less - perhaps from super super profits to super profits that's all. But we all know that this stingy and greedy PAP will never do that because to ask the Old Fart to give just 1 cent of the GLCs profits is let asking for one of his old and wrinkled balls.

When you are 'poor' you are poor!

And when the year ends comes Pinky will change again to 'lower income group' when he disburse his year end and pow to the balless Sinkie to make them feel good! LOL

Tonychat fuck your arse, despite the fact that you are a poor fuck, but you are a Malaysian, you will get nothing from Singapore Government.

Fuck back to matland and beg your UMNO masters for money.

And these guys have no guilt when taking home more than $100,000 a month compared to $3000 a month?

All the ministers and members in the regime have no guilt and they want the poor to die the early the better. pls let me refresh your memory with the below excerpt taken from Parliament.

Dr Lily Neo:

Sir, I want to check with the Minister again when he said on the strict criteria on the entitlement for PA recipients. May I ask him what is his definition of “subsistence living”? Am I correct to say that, out of $260 per month for PA recipients, $100 goes to rental, power supply and S&C and leaving them with only $5 a day to live on? Am I correct to say that any basic meal in any hawker centre is already $2.50 to $3.00 per meal? Therefore, is it too much to ask for just three meals a day as an entitlement for the PA recipients?

Dr Vivian Balakrishnan:

How much do you want? Do you want three meals in a hawker centre, food court or restaurant?
