Want to watch Aljunied GRC MP Chen Show Mao recite poetry, Hougang MP Png Eng Huat rock out in a band or Non-Constituency MP Yee Jenn Jong do a David Copperfield?
The Workers’ Party (WP) parliamentarians will be doing all these and more in a variety show next month.
The show, titled Bricks in Blue: Building for a New Generation! is a tribute to the WP’s supporters in Hougang, Aljunied GRC and “all over Singapore”, according to the party’s Facebook post.
“Come see our members and volunteers unmask their artistic talents like you have never seen before!” it added.
The concert, to be held at the Jubilee Hall on January 6, will feature WP chairman and Aljunied GRC MP Sylvia Lim in a makeover and NCMP Gerald Giam singing, among other highlights.
The parliamentarians have previously shown off their singing chops at constituency events like National Day and Chinese New Year dinners.
Responding to queries from Singapolitics, Hougang MP Png Eng Huat said there will be about 30 to 40 performers, including MPs, party members, volunteers and residents.
The show, jointly organised by the WP’s grassroots arms in Aljunied GRC and Hougang, is open to all, he said. About 740 are expected to attend the matinee and evening shows.
As for those wondering whether the WP’s most familiar face will be involved, fret not.
Singapolitics can confirm that party chief Low Thia Khiang will be singing a Chinese song.
