Workers' Party contested East Coast GRC for the 5th time, why they can't make any breakthrough?

Because Singaporeans will vote PAP by default, unless WP fields exceptionally strong team + PAP has a strong negative personality in their team. Edwin Kong Hee Tong appears in every event in East Coast. He is omni present to give out certs and pocket money to kids who perform well in schools every year. If you live in the east you will literally see his face everywhere. WP east coast team is decent but it takes more than that to beat a PAP team.
Tampines GRC stands greater chance than East Coast GRC, so is Jalan Kayu SMC. Expect gerry-meandering in these two territories in the next GE. Any person who want greater chance into parliament should join WP and help them expand their team to contest all over Singapore (except the retarded West zones sinkies). The close fight result they gained in Tampines (a really huge town) is a phenomena. 2 more percentage point the entire WP in Tampines will go into parliament.. Lawrence Wong happy too soon. Let him serves his first term and watch closely.
WP put their second string team in the EC GRC thats why they lost. Had they put the Punggol team in the EC they could have won. Maliki and Heng left and Edwin Tong is not universally liked in the East. WP put Yee to contest but while being a veteran he wasnt very visible and was quite low key. So this WP strategy didnt work out as can be seen by the voter swing.
