A scare for some workers at Sembawang Marine Admiralty Yard over the weekend.
A worker had fainted while working in a tank onboard a crude oil tanker, the M/V Pavinospirit, which was docked at the shipyard for repairs.
At the time, he was working with 3 other colleagues to do a “thickness measurement” of the tank.
The tank contained a layer of oil residue at the time.
The worker was subsequently sent to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and remains warded there.
His colleagues who were working in the tank were unharmed.
The worker is said to be an employee of a company contracted to conducted the “thickness measurement”.
The incident happened on Saturday at about 4pm.
Sembcorp Marine Admiralty Yard is currently assisting the authorities with the incident investigation.
