<!--background story, collapse if none-->Readers react to the incident

THE article on STOMP receieved a flurry of comments after it was published.
Readers expressed shock and anger that such a mistake could be made with many saying such an incident is 'unforgiveable' and there were calls for the hospital to be sued for negligence.
'There is no excuse for such a mistake. People can die due to wrong prescription. Report them and make sure they compensate,' said STOMP user aries_kid.
Another STOMP user glchia2007 said: 'Such mistakes should not have happened. Luckily, it was not oral medication or the consequences would have been more serious.'
'The pharmacist needs to be given a stern warning and re-trained if necessary,' he added.
Raisinbun has called for the pharmacy to put safeguards in place to ensure that such mix-ups do not happen.
'The pharmacy's internal policies and processes should be audited and improved to ensure that incidents like these do not recur,' said the STOMP user.

AN ELDERLY woman unknowingly 'glued her eyelids shut' when she applied dental adhesive paste that was dispensed by a hospital pharmacy.
In a post on STOMP, Asia's leading citizen-journalism website, a user named Austin who claims to be the woman's son, said she was supposed to be given eye gel for her eye problems.
'As shown in the pictures, my mother was prescribed Solcoseryl 20% Eye Gel but whoever was behind the counter gave her Solcoseryl Dental Adhesive Paste instead,' Austin said.
'My mother does not understand English, and her eyesight is too poor to make out the words even if she did.
'I came home to find her complaining that it was difficult to open her eyelids and discovered to my horror that she had applied this paste to her eyes,' he added.
HAVE YOUR SAY:
What do you think of the hospital's mistake?
