Police retrieved the body of a 48-year-old woman from the Kallang River yesterday.
Her body was found floating in the river, said the police who had answered a call for assistance at about 10am.
A witness, Mr Kevin Tan, was driving in the vicinity of Geylang Road when he saw police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers along the banks of the river.
Said Mr Tan, who took this picture (right): "Like the few members of the public who were there at the time, I was curious. So we watched from behind the police cordon."
The woman's body was retrieved by personnel from SCDF and national water agency PUB. She was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
Police have classified the case as unnatural death.
