The problem is that the rule book has already clearly stated the max amount of $50,000 before any of the slot machines were allowed to go operational.
However in this case I believe the casino should be penalised for the glitch, no diff from SMRT penalized for pub tpt glitches. Let say they have to pay a fine of $50,000 to casino regulatory authority. Of course, the CRA should also be morally obliged to use these penalties to fund social programmes targetted at problem gambling, but knowing how fucked up and mercenery the govt is, I won't bet on that.
(Its the same way with tobacco tax ... the tax dollars should be channeled to hospitals and healthcare programmes, but the govt instead hoards it for itself and does not return those tax dollars to the citizens...)

If the max payout is the car or $258k, then the slot machine should be programmed to match the max of that and no more.
Once the slot machine showed the winning of $410k, then they should pay accordingly.
MBS may be able to claim the difference from their insurance or machine vendor.
