A WOMAN who misappropriated someone else's cashout ticket credit at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) was fined $1,500 on Wednesday. Alice Lau Qian Xiu, 46, an accounts assistant, admitted to dishonestly misappropriating the cashout ticket credit of $630 belonging to sales executive Soh Wee Chen , 32, at the casino on Feb 17. A magistrate's court heard that the two were playing Russian roulette machine side by side when Mr Soh ejected his membership card from the machine and left without cashing out the credits within the machine.
After a short while, Lau realised that the credits were still within Mr Soh's machine. She cashed out the credits and a ticket was printed stating an amount of $630. She left to redeem the ticket after cashing out her own machine. Mr Soh realised that the credit was not being cashed out as he thought that the credits would be generated into his membership card once he ejected it. But this applies to Genting, not RWS. The management paid him $630 after viewing the CCTV and traced Lau who was at the casino. She admitted what she had done and returned the amount. She could have been jailed for up to two years and/or fined.
