Woman on maid abuse charges

A HOUSEWIFE was hauled to court on Wednesday for allegedly abusing her Indonesian maid. Leong Yoke Fun, 41, is said to have slapped Ms Dwi Yanti, 25, at her house at Jalan Chempedak in Upper Thomson in March last year. She is also accused of using a broom to hit her on the mouth on April 21. Leong, who has a lawyer, will go for a pre-trial conference on Feb 22. If convicted, she faces a jail term of up to three years and a fine of up to $7,500 per charge.
