Ho Lai-king's High Court writs says that her daughter and son-in-law threw "hell money" at her in a row over the will of her late husband.
A mother is suing her daughter and son-in-law after they allegedly threw "hell money" at her in a row over a will.
Ho Lai-king claims Kwok Fung-yi and her husband, Lau Chun-wai, were demanding a HK$15 million share of the estate of her late husband, Kwok Chun, when they confronted her.
Ho's High Court writs says that after she refused, the pair threw the hell notes and other joss paper at her on August 6 last year, the day after her birthday.
Ho, of Tuen Mun, is claiming damages, saying she suffered "great distress".
The writ also asks the court to declare Ho the sole beneficiary of the estate.
The writ says Kwok Chun died in February 2012, leaving a will making Ho the sole executor and trustee of his estate, including a property in Guangzhou.
It says the daughter signed a declaration renouncing her share of the Guangzhou property.
But Ho claims her daughter and Lau then began demanding a share of the estate.
The writ says Ho had repeatedly told the couple that she might make provision for them in her own will if they treated her well.
It says the couple went to Ho's home on July 26 demanding the HK$15 million.
When Ho refused, Lau damaged a religious tablet and incense burner.
They had returned on August 6 to continue pressing their demands.
Ho instructed a lawyer to tell the pair to stop causing "nuisance, interference, disturbance and embarrassment".
The pair denied the allegations but did not approach her again.
