A 24-year-old woman, who was forcibly injected with a man's HIV-positive blood in March 2026 after she refused to marry him, has reportedly died by suicide in Hyderabad in southern India.

The accused's parents were supposedly also HIV-positive, ndtv.com reported, adding that the woman's parents had planned for her to marry the man.

The woman's parents got the accused tested in September 2025.

His results came back positive.

Forcibly injected

The woman then cancelled their marriage immediately, after which the accused was said to have forcibly injected her with his HIV-positive blood on Mar. 11, 2026.

Following this, the woman did not immediately inform her family about the incident, The Times of India reported, adding that they took her to see a doctor the next day when she developed body pains and a high fever.

The accused was subsequently arrested and held in judicial remand.

Declared dead

Nearly a month after the incident, the woman's family found out about the suicide when her grandmother discovered the woman's body after returning home in the morning from selling flowers for a living.

Her family members then rushed her to a government hospital, where doctors declared her dead, ndtv.com reported.

According to The Times of India, the woman had reportedly left behind a note apologising to her parents.
