TEXAS - She was driving home after buying cookie dough for her son's school project.
But she was pulled over in a town in Texas, US, by a police officer who told her that she was driving with her headlights off.
The trouble began when Ms Rebecca Van Hooser (above) was asked to get out of the car after the officer, Mr Eric Alvarez, discovered that she had an outstanding warrant on a speeding ticket, The Fort Worth Star Telegram reported.
He then allegedly threw her against her car and manhandled her so roughly that one of her breast implants ruptured.
Ms Van Hooser is now suing the town for violating her constitutional rights against improper search and seizure. The incident happened late last year.
"We respect police officers," her lawyer, Ms Susan Hutchison, told NBC Fort Worth.
"We're glad they're out there protecting us. When you arm someone with a gun and a badge and the authority that they have over people, you've got to train them appropriately, and they have got to be able to react reasonably and responsibly."
Ms Hutchison said she requested a copy of the patrol car's dashboard camera footage of the arrest, but was told that the police department saves its videos for only 90 days.
In the lawsuit, Ms Van Hooser claimed that the implant began leaking into her body after it split.
When she screamed in pain and told the officer he was hurting her, he said, "You're not supposed to be comfortable", she claimed in her suit.
She claimed that she had several surgeries since, including a total mastectomy of her right breast.
