Woman arrested for using another person's identity card to enter RWS casino

Police have arrested a 53-year-old woman for entering the casino at Resorts World Sentosa with another person's identity card.

SINGAPORE: Police have arrested a 53-year-old woman for entering the casino at Resorts World Sentosa with another person's identity card.

Police said the suspect who had a self-exclusion order was detained after she was found using another person's identity card to enter the casino on 21 July 2012.

Investigations revealed that on 20 July 2012, the suspect had stolen the identity card from her friend.

The suspect had also entered the RWS casino with another person's identity card on 17 July 2012.

Police said her accomplice, who handed his identity card to her, had abetted the offence.

Both suspects will be charged in court on Monday.

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 53-year-old woman for entering the Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) casino with another person's identity card.

On Jul 21, 2012, the suspect who had a self Exclusion Order was detained after she was found using another person’s identity card to enter the casino.

She had stolen the identity card from her friend to enter the RWS casino despite being self-excluded from entering the casinos.

She had also entered the RWS casino with the identity card of the same friend, a 52-year-old male suspect on 17 Jul 2012. Her friend had abetted the offence by handing his identity card to her.

Both suspects will be charged in Court on Apr 15, 2013 for offences under the National Registration Act, Chapter 201.

If convicted, they shall be liable to a fine not exceeding S$10,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 10 years, or to both.

For the offence of Theft, the female suspect shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 3 years, or with fine, or with both, if convicted.

For the offence of failure to pay the entry levy under Section 116(6) of the Casino Control Act, she shall be liable upon conviction to a fine not exceeding S$1,000, and shall also be liable for the amount of the entry levy that was not paid.
