I was servicing the pulp & paper mills in Sumatra in the early nineties. Then already the corporations were rapingt the land at the expense of the locals. When they resisted, the Indonesian army went in to quell the "rebels." Now it the Palm Oil corporations. This is the trend of things, for now, and the future too. The (growing) middle working class the world over needs the produce from these giants, there's no turning back.
