SIA is facing headwinds for this coming year. High fuel prices, stiff competition and bad economy compel SIA to review its operations and hiring policies.

Will SIA suffer its 1st unprecedented full year loss in this coming year?

SIA's ticket price should include a tour of Geylang and a pitstop too.

and some of the stewards too....come to think of it some pilots can volunteer to....some gals/guys like them in their uniform.

nah beh...the stewardess shld provide special service at additional premium...i am pretty sure like that...SIA can do well regardless of oil price.

ya you are probably right. SIA management can tackle the things within their control but many other factors are external.

nah beh...doesn't that sound like PAP tone when making excuses? then take high pay for fuck?

biggest cost component for SiA is fuel, followed by staff costs.

fuel cannot hedge? got so many scholars cannot anticipate? If Air Asia can hedge so well, why SIA cannot?

Staff cost - hire so many FT pilots for fuck? Station for rotation in london, paris , ny for fuck? Have flying school in Australia for fuck? Cannot relocate to china? Cannot outsource?

cannot lahhh..SIA has positioned itself as premium brand

nah beh...thats their archilles heel. but alot of premium brands continue to do well despite downturn. Look at LV, look at Hermes, look at Mercedes, Ferraris....yes, different industry but same core idea.

premium brands should do well - and SIA is fucking cash rich, try to buy China Eastern kenna thwart, burn a hole in their coffers. Biggest benefactor, shareholders.

they hedged recently but they lost big time ...should kick those responsible in their ass. I think scholars overqualified to hedge....must get the football

punters on this forum . They can do a better job.

There is no more overseas based pilots. This closed shop many moons ago.

The world economy is on a downward spiral and this will affect SIA's operations needless to say. Time to divest your shares and buy back later. I have no doubts SIA will ride out the storm in better shape than ever.

Dunno. Long time never flew SQ, nowadays travel via budget airlines.

Cheers!

i think it will be harder on them bro.....they face the same external problems but cant cut cost/service much more without affecting safety, comfort and

reliability.

Does this mean it will be boom time for budget airlines?

Same here I actively avoid SIA & have found better deals elsewhere. During the good times they took the Spore passengers for granted. We were also shafted with higher tix prices. SIA is also a racists airlines. Have seen many times the favoritism given to the angmo passengers.

A bad reputation takes time to develop & SIA has had years to develop theirs.
With all the cost cutting going on I wouldn't be surprised if they have another "incident"

SIA 2012 account will be red color.
Now many go for cheaper fly.
Taking SIA if there is promotion will be cheaper than most full service carrier ticket or no alternative flight.
