yes SAF a organisation with 13 billion budget and no real or definite purpose or function in reality except for wayang.

its like having a store room and garage full of machine guns, automatic rifles and rpgs but the only enemy exist inside ur head and nothing around you except miles and miles of desert.

Preparedness is the best defence. To take peace for granted is dangerous. Pappies might be dumb in other areas of governance but in building up the defence for SG, they are on the right track.

Yankees now realise it is pointless to die in wars waged miles away from their doorstep. They pulled out from Afghanistan and Iraq; let the natives fight among themselves and kill one another. War in S Vietnam was a big mistake to the Yankees. They died in vain as Vietnam is now one country and a friend of USA as well. Friends today, enemies tomorrow or Enemies today, friends tomorrow. like i said SAF is not serving a real function in real life to justify the cost,like a hospital is there to take care of the sick and mrt is there to carry people to where they need to go.Its like having a giant sales and marketing department in ur company thats draining massive funds and manpower cost but it doesnt have anything to sell or a movie to promote.Its just there to suck ur money.

In truth, the PAP has played the immigration/FT card completely wrong. The SAF need not be more than 100,000 in strength, and no neighhbour would ever consider messing with us. The simple reason is that all the FTs can be used as hostage bargaining chips. e.g any impending attack by Indonesia, just close all the airport and border crossings to Indonesian passport holders, and start rounding them up. the minute one indonesia soldier lands on singapore soil, justs start machine gunning the indons that have been rounded up. There will be 100,000 dead indonesians before the fighting even starts. ditto for malaysians, PRCs, Thais, Pinoys, etc. see whether they are willing to pay this price.

u are right. but the military budget feeds the mouths of many PAP cronies and por lumpars and hence will not be cut.

We do not need planes like F22 Or F35... Savings could be used for the benefit of Singaporeans like cheaper healthcare costs or university fees.

We spend too much on Defence already. What hardware we have is adequate . What we lack is the fighting spirit . But who are we defending when foreigners are taking over our jobs and livelihoods ?

If our hardware was unchanged from the '80s i.e. AMX-13 and Centurion tanks, M113, F-5, A-4, F-16 A/B, etc. we would still be more formidable than all the neighbours combined. someone is making a lot of money on all these arms purchases.

If this warrant officer is well respected n honourable..he will not have to say such shit as he will lead from the front and his men will follow him..but to say such crap just shows the state the military is in...i bet this lan cheow NCO will be 1st to run away or defect...but the latter is not possible as the enemy would not want him...
