Man, 81, missing on Sentosa since Saturday. Cabby, who may have been last to see man, describes conversation on the way to Fort Siloso

October 06, 2010

For the past few days, one Singaporean family has been walking around Sentosa with a heavy heart.

They are there to look for their father, an 81-year-old retiree, who disappeared on Saturday.

Mr Tan Ang Mng left his home in the MacPherson area with his passport.

He was living with the eldest of his six children, but didn't say a word to his family.

It was only after he didn't return that night that his children realised he was missing.

Police and staff from the Sentosa Leisure Group conducted a search for him on Saturday.

A Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) spokesman said its officers too were activated, but left when the search was called off.

Neither of Mr Tan's three children knew where he was, why he had left, or why he wanted to go to Sentosa.

He was last seen by a taxi driver who reportedly drove him to Fort Siloso.

During their chat in the taxi, Mr Tan said he was upset his wife had passed away a few months ago.

He then burst into tears.

Mr Tan was wearing dark-coloured shorts and a blue collared shirt

How about, Krafty Hotbot drove him to Fort Siloso to steal another cannon. Unfortunately he fell into the sea and Krafty quickly escaped.
