Citroen Offering On-Board WiFi

Citroen had expanded the range of features offered to its customers, introducing WiFi Internet connectivity on the C3, C3 Picasso, C4, C4 Picasso, C5, C6 and DS3 models.

The new feature, which is called WiFi On Board, requires users to install a 3G or 3G+ SIM card (this can be purchased from any mobile Internet provider) and creates a wireless network within the vehicle, allowing multiple WiFi devices to be connected. This offers multiple users the possibility to check their e-mails, play games or browse the web.

Citroen has also decided to add a special feature to the system, offering a roaming override function. This can be used to deactivate the system when the user is traveling in order to avoid roaming data transfer that would bring high costs.

“The system makes it possible for passengers to enjoy Internet access during journeys and to make more effective use of their time in the car. Fleet and Business users can also access the Internet when the car is parked safely. To avoid expensive data costs when traveling abroad, the system is installed with roaming disabled as the default setting,” stated the press release.

If you want WiFi On Board for your Citroen, you’ll have to pay 545 pounds ($824) for the feature, with the price excluding the cost of the 3G/3G+ SIM card and Internet access charges.

Citroen added that the feature will also be offered for other passenger cars and commercial vehicles by the end of the current year. You can watch the system at work in the video bellow:
