There are several things you must acknowledge. First is that the opposition, especially the WP is attracting more and more credible and talented people.
The second is that the population is getting better educated and able to see to bigger picture. People are also more discerning which means they can tell a lemon candidate from a good one. See how badly RP performed in the elections despite bad government policies and general unhappiness.
WP performed well because it has good branding, good candidates and good groundwork. Its as simple as that.
No one here is blindly supporting the opposition. Support for WP is strong because of its improved team of candidate and potential candidates, and also because it has the best chance of making further inroads into parliament.
