Why was Children's Day changed to the first Friday of Oct?

Anyone of you "children" remember the Children Day Song we sing?, do they still sing this song? current generation or is it in Mandarin already?

Me honestly, never bothered to know the translation, each & every year, given a small booklet with the Malay Lyrics & just "parrot" the song...
thi si song is by Zubir Said, who wrote the National Anthem " Majullah Singapura", the translation of the Chindren's Day Song:May You Achieve Happiness

i actually still can sing along, amazed with myself. i also do not know the meaning of the song. there is also another tamil children song, among my friends i remember i am one of those rare few that can sing it. that one really a bit challenging, only manage to catch it during p4 or p5 HAHA
