Ever since news of Chew Chor Meng's illness was made public, there have been numerous outpourings of sympathy from Singaporeans from all walks of life.

However, STOMPer Ken feels otherwise and finds the popular MediaCorp actor, who has been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, not 'pitiful at all' as they are others worse off than him.

This STOMPer says:

"Frankly speaking, I do not find Chew Chor Meng pitiful at all.

"Compared to other people, I think his illness is nothing, as it is not even life threatening.

"So what if he is a MediaCorp artiste and he cannot walk? There are plenty of people worse off than him, (eg. The Mumbai blast victims) and he has had a good life for too long already."

I can understand as to why Ken reacted in such an insenisitive way. We can't realli blame him. Afterall we are living in a cold soul-less city, a little warm can make some people feel uneasy. It is not his fault and he is not alone in this line of thinking.

Maybe Ken caught his girlfriend masturbating with Chor Meng's magazine pic? Dats why doolan...

If one of the Pappies uplorry, I am sure this STOMPer will be the 1st to demand a state funeral, brand the person a national hero etc etc etc

i think this ken fella is immature and does not see the misfortune of others. we cannot compare misfortunes. each of us have different misfortunes, different problems and different illnessese and diseases sooner or later as we grow old. so for someone to say such a thing is really uncalled for.

nevermind lah.if we sympathise and empathise with mr chew, it's okay.if we don't empathise with him.it's also okay. but please do not say such nasty things. such remarks are unkind and immature and reflect badly on the character of the stomper. i feel sorry for him to say such a thing because what he said will return to haunt him or his loved ones. this is the nature of things under heaven.you cannot escape what you've done to others. so be very careful with your remarks - your thoughts, your words and your actions. all these will have retributions. so please be very careful. have a blessed new year everybody.

Perhaps what he trying to say is dat the artist is in a position to weather his misfortune, there are countless others who are in similar situations but unable to cope with it. In these cases the families suffers too. Wat he should be saying is that while we show sympathy to the artist, we should empathise more of the long queue behind him...

i think we should empathise with all suffering human beings - celebrities or just peasants.we are all equal under heaven.
