Other countries already outright ban all visitors from ebola stricken countries in Africa. S'pore never had a visa requirement from these countries and now want to out in temporary visa, they should just ban them.

SINGAPORE — From Wednesday (Nov 5), temporary visa requirements will be imposed for nationals from Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone for entry to Singapore, to allow better oversight of entry of nationals from Ebola-hit countries and facilitate contact tracing in case of an imported Ebola case here, said Minister of State for Health Dr Lam Pin Min.

In response to questions raised in Parliament today on the Health Ministry’s plans to step up efforts to counter and contain the Ebola virus, which has since spread outside of Africa, Dr Lam noted that while healthcare workers here have been trained on the proper use of personal protective equipment and hospitals are reminded to maintain strict infection control measures, human error can occur, and was what resulted in the secondary transmission to healthcare workers in Spain and the United States.

He said the ministry will continue to work with the National Infection Prevention and Control Committee and other experts to review its protocols and ensure that hospitals here are prepared and competent in managing suspect and confirmed Ebola cases.

Rapid test kids to Ebola have been developed, but none have been approved for use here. The ministry will evaluate the kits’ performance to determine their suitability for use in Singapore’s environment.

In support of the Ebola relief efforts, Singapore has contributed an aid package of medical supplies and personal protective equipment, and US$150,000 in cash, to the World Health Organisation.

Dr Lam said that Singapore will continue to work with the WHO on how to further assist in the global effort against the Ebola outbreak, including the possibility of sending one of our experts to assist the WHO headquarters in their relief efforts.

So that some tua kang yao siew's dream that Ebola can come to sinkieland and property prices drop :D

Compare this with countries like Canada.

Canada bans visas for residents of nations where there has been an outbreak of Ebola

Canada - which has not reported any cases of Ebola so far - is following in the footsteps of Australia, which on Tuesday became the first rich nation to issue such a ban. The country's official in charge of the response to Ebola said the move was medically unjustified.

Under the new regulations, which come into force immediately, Canada will not process visa applications from foreign nationals who have been in an Ebola-affected country within the previous three months.

And Australia

Australia became the first developed country on Tuesday to shut its borders to citizens of the countries worst-hit by the West African Ebola outbreak, a move those states said stigmatized healthy people and would make it harder to fight the disease.

Australia's ban on visas for citizens of Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea followed decisions by the U.S. military to quarantine soldiers returning from an Ebola response mission and some U.S. states to isolate aid workers. The United Nations said such measures could discourage vital relief work, making it harder to stop the spread of the deadly virus.

"Anything that will dissuade foreign trained personnel from coming here to West Africa and joining us on the frontline to fight the fight would be very, very unfortunate," Anthony Banbury, head of the U.N. Ebola Emergency Response Mission (UNMEER), told Reuters in the Ghanaian capital Accra.

Same reason why Singapore is the first to import Fukushima rice. ;)

Singapore is ruled by a bunch of dangerous psychopaths who engage in groupthink.

Sg might not be first to import fuku rice.
Aust has quietly stopped checking radiation level of imported jap food since jan 2014.

Why do Africans want to come to Singapore? They aren't many great bargains for exports?
